He was born on August 18, 1939, in Cali, Colombia. Married to his beloved Marlene Knepper until her passing on April 20, 2014, their bond epitomized unwavering devotion. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Sandra Maria and Alfredo Andres, imparting values of kindness, resilience, and compassion. Alfredo found immeasurable joy in his grandchildren, Maria Camila, Santiago, Veronica, Ian, and Lucas, taking immense pride in their achievements. His warmth and wisdom left an indelible mark on each of their lives. As an engineer, Alfredo pursued continuous learning, even enrolling at Lanier Tech in his later years to study English. He also found joy at the Forsyth County Senior Center, engaging in activities like bingo and dancing, endearing himself to many with his vibrant spirit and infectious laughter. Alfredo's later years were also enriched by the presence of his children's friends and neighbors, who played an integral role in his life. Their companionship, support, and shared moments brought him great joy and comfort as he navigated the challenges of aging. Alfredo's legacy is one of memories—a devoted husband, loving father, adoring grandfather, and cherished friend. While his presence will be deeply missed, his spirit will endure in the hearts of all who knew him. Sandra and Alfredo express heartfelt gratitude to their spouses, Helber and Denise, for their unwavering support and acceptance of Alfredo, especially during the challenging final months. Their kindness allowed Alfredo to be embraced as a beloved father, fostering a nurturing environment where he shared his wisdom, laughter, and love until the end. Their steadfast support was a source of immense comfort and strength for the entire family during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Alfredo's memory. Alfredo was a dedicated donor to St. Jude, reflecting his compassionate nature and commitment to helping others. Friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects during viewings at Flanigan Funeral Home on Thursday, April 25th, from 4 to 8 pm, and Friday, April 26th, from 5 to 6 pm. A service celebrating Alfredo's life will follow on Friday, April 26th, from 6 to 7:30 pm.
