Anthony G. Maloof

1934 - 7/14/16 Anthony G. Maloof ("Tony"), age 81, a native born Atlantan, faithful Catholic, successful businessman, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all; lived a wonderful and fulfilling life until the Lord called him home to eternal life on 7/14/16. Born to Charles and Alice Maloof, Anthony was the second child. His older sister, Teresa Gernazian, and Anthony shared a uniquely loving and mutually admiring relationship for his entire life. His dear younger sister Charlene died in 1984. Charlene idealized her brother who was always there for her until the Lord called her home. At an early age, Anthony learned the value of money, principles of business and a strong work ethic from his parents who owned Liberty Five and Dime. He graduated from Marist High School in 1952 and graduated from Georgia Tech in 1957 with a degree in Industrial Management. He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force, and was stationed in Alaska. Tony later worked for Sears and Roebuck where he had a tremendous and successful career as a Sears executive. It was also at Sears where he met the love of his life - Marilyn. Marilyn and Anthony were perfectly suited for each other and their love grew with each passing year. They not only shared the same values, and the same faith, but they perfectly complemented each other in all aspects of their lives. Anthony and Marilyn have remained active in their retirement years and have extended their family to include fellow parishioners at Saint Monica's, bridge partners, travel companions, and friends in the "dinner club." Tony was not only "the life of the party," and quick with a joke, but always sincerely cared about each and every one of these beloved friends and dinner companions. Mr. Maloof was preceded in death by his father, Charles Francis Maloof; mother, Alice Frances Azar Maloof; and sister, Charlene Maloof. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Conley Maloof; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Bruce and Gloria Rowley, Lawrenceville, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Philip Panos, Gainesville, GA; grandchildren, Philip A. Panos, Andy Panos, Kenny Rowley, and George Rowley; sister, Teresa Gernazian, Decatur, GA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ron and JoAnne Conley, PA; nieces and nephews, Charles Gernazian, Terri Gernazian, Gerard Gernazian, Alice Sorano, Denise, Shaun, Christi and Katherine; several nieces and nephews on maternal side; and many, many other beloved relatives. A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Monica's Catholic Church on Buford Highway with Father Jack Durkin officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Monica's Catholic Church or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
