Betty Joyce Herndon Hunt

"A beautiful woman, Betty Joyce Herndon Hunt, passed away Monday, May 11th, 2015. She was born in Montgomery, Alabama on October 26th, 1938 to two proud parents: John Stark Herndon and Marie Bracken Herndon. Betty had one younger sister, Susan Herndon Jones. She was delighted to receive the blessing of her five children by Erwin Albion Hunt: Gary David Hunt, Sheree Ann Hunt Gates, Randall Alan Hunt, Renee Marie Hunt Woods Johnson, and Aimee Therese Hunt Peace. They would be pleased to have your presence at Betty's funeral service on Thursday, May 14th, 8:00pm at Flanigan Funeral Home in Buford, GA, with visitation from 4:00 p.m. until time of service. Interment will be Friday, May 15th, 2:00pm CST, Oakwood Cemetery Annex, 608 W. Shawnee Drive, Montgomery, AL 36107. The family of Betty Joyce Herndon Hunt wishes that God would bless you, and the one's you hold dear, as He has blessed us with her. From those five children (above), God further blessed Betty Joyce Herndon Hunt with eleven grandchildren. From Gary and Heidi Dahlberg Hunt there came the blessing of Leah Hunt, Jesse Hunt, and Mara Hunt. From Sheree and Roger Gates, Jr., there came the blessing of Roger Gates, III and Christopher Gates. From Randy and Cindy Grubbs, there came the blessing of Chase Hunt and Carly Hunt. From Renee and Stevie Woods, there came the blessing of Coty Woods and Travis Woods. From Aimee and David Peace, there came the blessing of Ava Peace and Casey Peace. Sheree's child, Roger Lee Gates, III, and his wife, Melanie Gates, has also blessed Betty with her only great grandchildren: Naima Gates and Roger Lee Gates, IV (Baby Lee), who brought her great joy. Betty was also dearly loved by many others, including her many nieces and nephews. These included: Linda Lee Desjardins, Valerie Hunt Lampe, Scott Hunt, Thomas Hunt, Daniel Hunt, (by Rayfield Hunt), Tammy Snyder Smith, Kent Snyder, Kelly Snyder, (by Regina Carleton Snyder), and Robert (Bobby) Carleton, and Jessica Carleton (by Neal Carleton). Betty was an avid reader, and talented artist. She also loved "antiquing" and gardening. She was very proud of her hard-earned college degree. But she was FIERCELY proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They brought her great joy! Betty would like everyone to know that her work here on this earth is done and she has given all she can give. She received a call, a sort of offer that she could not refuse... for an appointment from which she will not return. Her new mission takes her to a place where she will be painting, gardening, trading stocks and reading to her hearts content - while she watches over the ones she loves most and is so very proud of. Where she is going music, laughter and love is guaranteed. She will tell stories of her glorious, courageous years and remain inspiring and strong forever. She will continue to be the hard working woman we all know her to be, looking down on us from above, with knowledge of what it truly means to give unconditional love."
