Catherine Stringer

Catherine Stringer was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 26, 1943 to Carthen and Elsie Ealey. She grew up in Brooklyn and attended public schools there. Catherine graduated from Central Commercial High School and later continued her studies at Queens College of the City University of New York, where she earned a B.A., with honors in history. Catherine was married to Jimmie Stringer on March 7, 1970 in Brooklyn, New York. They later moved to Queens and had two children, Craig and Erika Stringer. Jimmie and Catherine loved and supported each other for forty-three years. Catherine was a retired New York City Marshal. She held that Mayoral appointed position for twenty-two years. She built a successful business collecting judgments owed to the New York City Department of Finance, various corporations, attorneys and private individuals. Prior to her appointment as a Marshal, Catherine was a legal assistant for the firm of Lipkowitz and Plaut in New York City. Jimmie and Catherine lived in Queens until retiring in 2007 and moving to Georgia. Upon retiring, Catherine became a substitute teacher in Gwinnett County, a volunteer tutor at Buford Academy, volunteer for the Women's Build of Gwinnett Habitat for Humanity, on the Board of Gwinnett AARP-Chapter 2714, served on the Board of her Home Owners Association and served as an officer in the Gwinnett Democratic Club. She was a member of the OMBG Bridge Club and the Ladybugs Book Club. Catherine will be remembered for her loving, kind, compassionate and generous spirit. That love is exemplified through the many ways she was able to touch the lives of her family and friends with a kind word, the sage advice she offered or by simply providing an ear to listen. She was a loving mother and wife and was loved and adored by her husband, children and grand children. The pain of her loss is only eased by the fact that she is no longer suffering and has been made whole. She has gone home to be with God our father and for this we rejoice in the midst of our tears. Catherine is survived by her husband Jimmie Stringer, son Craig Stringer, daughter Erika Stringer and her niece/daughter Sharon Fuller-Ealey. Grand children Dorian Stringer and Yehshai Stringer, Siblings Arthur Ealey, Carthen Ealey Jr., Kenneth Ealey, Victoria Suarez, Doreen Ferguson and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends. She is predeceased by her Parents Carthen and Elsie Ealey, siblings Theresa Jones, David Ealey, Donnell Ealey, Hally Ealey, Johnny Ealey, Renee Ealey and Mary Annette Fuller. Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 8, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
