Donald "Don" H. Price

Donald “Don” H. Price, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Hoschton, Georgia, on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, just days shy of his 79th birthday. Born and raised in Auburn, Kentucky, Don carried a lifelong love for Kentucky basketball— something friends and family recognized instantly in his nearly daily University of Kentucky attire. Don graduated from Auburn High School in 1965, where he excelled in basketball and baseball and participated in numerous honor programs. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky, and later earned his MBA from Georgia State University. After college, he began his career in Ashland, Kentucky. Soon after, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served two years during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, Don returned to Ashland Oil before eventually moving to Atlanta. While playing on a company volleyball team for Gold Kist, Don met the love of his life, Holly. They married in 1979 and were blessed with two wonderful daughters, Erin and Julie. Don retired in 2005. Throughout his life, Don was active in a number of service and community organizations, including the Rotary Club and the Interfaith Children’s Movement. He was an elder in the Presbyterian Church, a longtime Sunday School teacher, a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of Johns Creek United Methodist Church. Don was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast who loved playing bridge, golf, and listening to—and singing along with—music from the 1960s. He rarely missed a Saturday on the golf course. He enjoyed tennis and bocce and treasured traveling with Holly, especially their favorite trip to Italy. He rarely missed the opportunity to attend his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and music performances—though watching Kentucky basketball came in a very close second. He was preceded in death by his parents, Prather and Emma Jane Price; his brother, Paul; and his sister, Barbara. He is survived by his wife, Holly Braselton Price; his three daughters, Dee Dee Price of Frankfort, Kentucky, Erin Frank (Nathan), and Julie Bethea (Andy); nine grandchildren; and one greatgranddaughter, all of whom he loved deeply and was immensely proud of. Though Don was a man of few words, he expressed his love through steadfast care for his family. A skilled handyman, he was always ready to lend a helping hand to friends, church members, and his children whenever they needed him. A celebration of Don’s life will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at 2:30 p.m., with a gathering time from 2:00–4:00 p.m., at Johns Creek United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Interfaith Children’s Movement. Don will be remembered for his quiet devotion to his family, his steady kindness, and the many small ways he showed up for the people he loved.
