Eleanor Irene Foster

Eleanor "Ellie" Irene Foster (née Nelson) passed-away at her home on September 17, 2016 in Hoschton, Georgia at the age of 83. Ellie is survived by her husband, Blair D. Foster of Hoschton; son, Edward Foster, his wife Nicola G. Foster, and their daughter Sarah E. Swann, of Richmond, Virginia; and son David B. Foster, his wife, Trish A. Foster, their daughter Coral A. Foster, and their son Cooper N. Foster of Buford, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy N. Mallard of Pearl River, New York. Ellie was born on June 20, 1933 in Leonia, New Jersey to Stanley P. and Grace E. Nelson. Ellie graduated from Douglass College (Rutgers University) in 1955 with a degree in Home Economics. Ellie married Blair Donald Foster, her college sweetheart, an Electrical Engineer, in 1957. After moving to Kingston, New York, Blair began working for IBM, and they welcomed Ed and Dave into their home. Ellie's children remember her as a kind and loving mother who encouraged them to laugh a lot and pursue their goals. Ellie was accomplished as a homemaker - a cook and seamstress among her talents - who wanted most to be a loving wife and mother. In her early fifties, Ellie went back to school to pursue a degree in drafting and then went to work for and retired from Duke Power, where she enjoyed a successful late life career as a drafter. Ellie was a fun-loving individual who loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends. She was quick to laugh and looked forward to and enjoyed her bridge parties, a hobby she pursued from her college days throughout her life. Ellie was an active member of St. Mary and St. Martha of Bethany Episcopal Church of Buford, Georgia and often volunteered there. A funeral is scheduled at St. Mary and St. Martha of Bethany Episcopal Church (4346 Ridge Road, Buford) on Thursday, September 22, at 11:00 AM, with a reception to follow there. Father Timothy Watts will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ellie's life.
