Gail G. Jones

Gail Green Jones, age 63, of Buford, GA passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016. She was preceeded in death by her parents, Cecil Green and Rita Blakeman Green. She is survived by her husband of nine years, Gwyn Jones, Buford, GA; children, Jennifer and Ed Barguiarena, Los Angeles, CA, Beth and Phillip Propst, Braselton, GA, Blake and Thomas Carter, Wilmington, NC, and Rob Brooksher, Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Aidan, Lola, Andrew, and Aaron Propst; Luca and Julian Barguiarena; siblings, Terry and Randy Hinson, Austin, TX, Cecil and Monique Green, Austin, TX, Cecile and Dickie Hughes, Mauriceville, TX, and Blake and Gwen Green, Dripping Springs, TX; Uncle and Aunt Reid and Kathy Blakeman, Conroe, TX; many, many nieces, nephews and cousins; an ensemble of students whom she considered family. Mrs. Jones was born on March 18, 1952 in Beaumont, Texas. She was a 1970 graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School, 1974 graduate of Lamar University and a 1985 graduate of Albany State University where she received her Master's Degree. She also was a 1998 graduate of Piedmont College where she received her Specialist in Theatre Education. She retired in 2013 after 20 plus years of teaching, most memorably in the White County and Hall County School Systems. She was a member of the Georgia chapter of the International Thespian Society where she was a State Board Member and a Hall of Fame recipient. Gail was dedicated to helping students find a place to belong both on and off the stage. As a travel enthusiast, she and Gwyn took a number of memorable trips around the world, most recently a two month long trip to Australia. Like in everything she did, she shared her passion for travel with her students, taking over 100 students on historical and theatrical tours of England over the last 15 years. A celebration of life, The Ultimate Cast Party, will be held at A Garden for Wellness, 140 Laprade Street, Clarkesville, GA 30523, on Saturday, March 5, 2016, from 5-10pm, with a toast at 7pm.
