Gary Brown

George “Gary” Brown, 80 years old this month, of Sugar Hill, Georgia, entered into eternal rest with Jesus from his home on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. Gary was born on October 24, 1942 at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. He grew up in Atlanta and graduated from Southwest High School in 1960. Gary spent the majority of his career in the concrete construction industry. He was a Regional Manager with Burke Concrete, Aluma Systems, Skilled Services Corporation, and Hughes Supply. In 2002, after living in California for ten years, he moved back to Atlanta and met Lynn. They were married in July, 2004. They enjoyed twenty years of being best friends, soul mates, and growing together in Christ. Gary enjoyed serving for years at their church, Cross Pointe Church in Duluth, as a greeter on Sundays and working at Cross Pointe’s Clothes Closet on Saturdays. Gary will be greatly missed by his wife, Lynn Brown. He is survived by his two sons, Christopher Brown of Newnan; Anthony Brown and wife, Shelly, of Peachtree City; his daughter, Lee Gonzalez and husband, Gustavo, of Newnan; and the mother of these three grown children, Linda Alvarez of Newnan. Gary has one surviving brother, Robert Brown and his wife, Susan, of Sharpsburg. In addition, he leaves behind a step-son, Eric Burke and his wife, Iris, of Jefferson; a step-daughter, Stefanie Hall and her husband, Scott, of Sugar Hill; sister-in-law, Kay Hamilton and her family; and brother-in-law, Ike Pearce, his wife, Diane, and their family. He will also be missed by his longtime friends and travel buddies, Jim (and Michael) Hargis and Brenda Whitlock of Tampa; Bob Noonan of Los Angeles; Linda and Adrian Powell of Santa Rosa Beach; and his beloved Tuesday night group. Waiting in Heaven for Gary are his parents, Dixie Irene and Porter Brown; his brother, Barry Brown; and his sister, Rene’ Bartlett. Gary loved kids and especially his nine grandchildren, two great-grandsons and five step-grandsons. His grandchildren are William Brown (and Savannah), Gustavo Gonzalez, Jr., Taylor Roggero (and Jerome Clairsaint), Rosa Gonzalez (and Melvin Bucay), Dakota Brown, Jacob Brown, Qianna Gonzalez, Mai Brown, and Preston Brown. His two great-grandsons are Romeo Clairsaint and Francis Bucay, “Jr.”. His step-grandsons are Ross Keith, Aiden Burke, Rylan Burke, Pierce Hall, and Torin Hall. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 1 PM at Cross Pointe Church, 1800 Satellite Boulevard, Duluth, in the Main Sanctuary Building Lobby, then to the Corner Theatre in the NextGen Area, with Rev. Bruce Hardy officiating Special Guest Speaker, Dr. Robert “Bob” Noonan. Visitation with be at 12:30 PM immediately before the memorial service. Flanigan Funeral Home (770-932-1133), 4500 S.
