Guy Forrest Hall

Guy Forrest Hall passed away peacefully at home in Buford, GA, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was 96 years old. Guy was born on a cold day March 8, 1926 to Millard Fillmore Hall and Lillie Tackett Hall in Weeksbury, KY. and was the youngest of seven children. He graduated from Weeksbury High School and attended Morehead College in Morehead, KY. He studied electrical and refrigeration courses in Chicago and was later employed by Pepsi Cola. On his way to a cattle auction with his dad, Guy met Joan. They became high school sweethearts and after graduating married on June 2, 1947 in Pikeville, KY. They moved to Columbus, Ohio around 1953, where he was employed as an electrician for several companies. He eventually worked at Western Electric in Ohio and transferred with the company to Norcross, GA in 1971, helping install large machinery in their new plant. He retired from there in 1991. During their 66 years of marriage, Guy and Joan had five children: Joyce, Jennifer, Janice, Carrol, and Jill. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, six older siblings, baby daughter Carrol, and great granddaughter Rebekkah Parker France. Guy is survived by his four daughters: Joyce Lorenz of Savannah, Jennifer Brown of Mansfield and Buford, GA, Janice Noble of Oakesdale, WA, Jill Ellis of Yatesville, GA., also by eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and three great, great, grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Throughout Guy’s life he shared his knowledge, skills and work ethic with his family. His interests and abilities were numerous and included gardening, photography, woodworking, carpentry, home building, nature, and aviation. Together with Joan and daughters, aged 3 to 11 years old, he built their first home in Ohio, only relying on a handful of professional subcontractors. His daughters learned lifelong experience in the guise of playing, while building their house. He taught his daughters how to think through any problem and come up with a creative solution, to love, to be respectful, and cherish the ones they loved. Although Guy has joined his beloved wife, his impact on his family and friends will remain in our hearts forever. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2022 in the Chapel of Flanigan Funereal Home, Buford, GA with Pastor Mike McGuire, from Fountain Church, officiating. Interment will be at Alta Vista Cemetery, Gainesville, GA. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home prior to the Service.
