Rev. Dr. Haywood Day

The Reverend Dr. C. Haywood Day, of Flowery Branch, GA, passed away, surrounded by loved ones, on July 23, 2023. He was 86 years old. Mr. Day was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore McKinley and Eddie Lou Day and his son, Mark Day. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Gail Haney Day; son, Nathan Day (Shelly) of Flowery Branch, GA; daughters, Laura Cruce of Buford, GA, and Libby Taylor (Eric) of Oakwood, GA; granddaughters, Bethany Huckaby (Nick) of Winder, GA, Elizabeth Taylor of Cleveland, TN, Brooklyn Taylor of Oakwood, GA; and great-granddaughter Easton Huckaby of Winder, GA. Haywood is also survived by sisters, Lujean Moody (Jim) of Winter Haven, FL, Maxine Mauldin (Steve) of Danville, VA, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Haywood was born January 2, 1937, in Columbus, GA and graduated from Columbus High School in 1955. He held a BA from Mercer University, Master of Divinity from Southeastern Seminary, and Doctor of Ministry from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He pastored many churches, in Georgia, Alabama, Florida, and even Germany throughout his ministry, spanning some 50+ years, until retiring from Bluewater Community Church in 2013. Haywood was truly one of a kind! He walked through this life with an incredibly positive attitude and never met a challenge that intimidated him. Haywood was an avid golfer and enjoyed his golf buddies as much as the game. He was an everything-sports fan, but loved watching the Falcons, the Braves, and especially the Georgia Bulldogs; more than the sports, though, he loved his wife and family, and they loved him. His foundation of faith was unwavering, and he was a true example of the Christ he served. His impact was far-reaching, and he will be greatly missed. We, his family, are certain that when Haywood left this world and stepped into heaven, he was greeted by his Savior with the words “well done, my good and faithful servant, well done.” Thank you, Haywood, for giving to the Lord. So many are so, so glad you gave.
