James Telford White

James Telford White, age 82, of Buford, GA passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016 from a degenerative brain disease. Telford was the ultimate example of a devoted husband and father. His leadership style was quiet and unassuming, & his actions were always filled with love and care. God's grace, strength and peace were evident in his life, & in his death. Telford was born and raised in Cornelia, GA. He was the son of the late John Brabson White and Ruby Lee Robertson. He attended South Habersham High School where he was very involved in athletics. In 2003 he was inducted into the Habersham County Football Hall of Fame. He served in the US Navy from 1953- 1957, serving on the USS Yorktown during the Korean Conflict. He moved to Atlanta in the late 50's and spent most of his career as a hardware salesman with Beck and Gregg, General Hardware and Orgill Brothers. He loved spending time with his family as well as his friends. He also loved the beach, golfing, & singing with the Silvertone's Choir. He was involved at 12Stone Church, (Hamilton Mill), where he was part of the usher team as well as a very dear community group. Telford leaves behind his sweetheart of 56 years, his wife, Wilma Peevy White, 2 daughters, Jill (and Steve) Colsson, Joy (and Ira) Davies. His sisters, Ellen White and JoAnn Cornwell. Brothers-in-law, Wendell (Dot) Peevy, Weston (Nancy) Peevy, Tony (Jenny) Peevy. Grandchildren, Lindsey, Mitchell & Ellis Davies, Chris (Kelly), Stephanie, Josh Colsson, Kelly Jane (Rick) Boswell, & Lacey Carpenter. Great-grandchildren, Annabelle & Brayden Colsson. He also leaves behind several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Charles Patrick White. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Flanigan Funeral Home, Buford, GA. Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 10th at 12Stone Church, 3858 Braselton Hwy, Buford, GA 30519.
