In Loving Memory of Kim Gregory Battle Kim Gregory Battle, 71, of Buford, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly on August 15, 2026. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 20, 1955, Kim was raised in Georgia and remained deeply connected to the people, community, and family that shaped his life. Kim was a man who was difficult to forget. If you ever met him, you remembered him. He was direct and outspoken, honest and thoughtful, compassionate and empathetic. A natural-born leader, Kim approached life with an uncommon combination of strength, determination, curiosity, and heart. Professionally, Kim was a highly respected residential developer whose work helped create communities and homes for people throughout Georgia. He found tremendous fulfillment in bringing a project from an idea to reality. Work was more than a career for Kim—it was where he found his challenge, his motivation, and his adrenaline. He was driven to succeed and took great pride in watching the communities he helped create come to life. Kim loved competition and never shied away from a challenge, or from challenging others. He was always trying to become stronger, better, faster, and more athletic than his son, daughter, brothers, and friends. He loved his dog Hunter, golf, fishing, working out, physical training, and nearly anything that gave him an opportunity to test himself. His competitive spirit was part of who he was, but so was his willingness to encourage others to become the best versions of themselves. Kim was also a man of faith and an eternal student of life. He continually sought God and studied the Bible, often referring to himself as a “forever student” when it came to the Lord. The Serenity Prayer held a special place in his heart, particularly during his later years. His faith was reflected not simply in what he believed, but in the lessons he tried to live and pass on to others. Above everything else, Kim was a father. His children were at the center of his life. In later years, Kim often said that he believed he was still here on earth for them. He loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart and believed they would be his greatest legacy. Kim was many things: a leader, a shepherd, a protector, a confidant, a therapist, an advisor, and a teacher. When anyone close to him faced trials and tribulation, there was never a better person for them to turn to for advice, strength, shelter, comedic relief. He led by example and taught lessons that extended far beyond words: How to rise above conflict, How to stand strong yet show grace; How to judge by facts rather than hearsay; How to give without expecting something in return; and to love without conditions. He never asked anyone to do something he would not do himself. Kim’s influence extended far beyond his immediate family. Throughout his 71 years, he touched countless lives through his friendships, his work, his leadership, and his willingness to help others. He was a patriot who deeply loved his country and regularly supported the principles and initiatives he believed would make America a better place for his family and future generations. Kim is survived by his children; Jessica Walton, Krista Battle-Shields, Catfish Battle; his grandchildren, Jayla, Javon, Jaden, Alaina, Daelo, and Silas; his son in law Travis F. Shields; his brothers Brady Battle and his wife, Mary, Guy Battle and his wife, Sheila, Owen Battle and his wife, Julia, Kim Elise Dobbs, Mark Battle, and Cody Battle; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and an abundance of extended family and loved ones. He is also survived by those he considered family and brothers and sisters in life, David Hancock, Jeffrey Weber, and Allison Madonia. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Catherine Suzanne; his parents, Frank Otis Battle and Shirley Bernelia “Bunni” Battle; and his brother, Scott Preston Battle. Kim leaves behind more than memories. He leaves behind lessons, relationships, communities, accomplishments, and—most importantly—a legacy carried forward through his children and the many lives has influenced. He remained, until the end, a student of life: always learning, always challenging himself, always looking for a way forward. His life was one of strength, conviction, hard work, faith, and love. And for those who knew him best, Kim’s greatest accomplishment was never a building, a business, or a project. It was the people he loved and the lives he helped shape. His children were his legacy, and through them, his legacy will live on. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Memorial Park South in Flowery Branch, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until time for the Service. Following the burial, close friends and family are invited to join together at The Rooftop Bar in Sugar Hill, GA to reminisce, share memories, and celebrate Kim’s life. A cash bar will be available.
