Lyndal Balentine Simpson

Lyndal Balentine Simpson of Auburn, GA passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2016. Mrs. Simpson (68 yrs old) was born July 31, 1948 as Lyndal Marie Balentine in Birmingham, Alabama. She graduated from Ensley High School in Birmingham in 1965 and matriculated Auburn University in 1969. She was joined in wedlock in 1968 with Stephen T. Simpson. She was a loving mother and devoted wife. She entered a Master's Degree Program at the University of Missouri earning her CPA in 1979. She owned her own CPA firm in Auburn, Alabama and other entrepreneurial businesses until she retired in 2007. Mrs. Simpson served on boards and worked with several non-profit organizations including Child Care Resources of Lee County, Lee-Russell Council of Governments, Lee County Aids Outreach, and Christian Women's Job Core of Lee County. She was an adjunct teacher in the College of Business, Auburn University. Mrs. Simpson attended the Auburn Church of Christ while living in Auburn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin Balentine and Ida Lou Burleson Balentine and a sister-in-law, Anna Sanders Balentine. Survivors include her husband, Dr. Stephen Simpson of Auburn, Georgia; daughter and son-and-law, Dana Lynn Pritchett and Jason Norman Pritchett, of Lawrencville, Georgia; son, and daughter-in-law, Stephen T. Simpson, Jr. and Corrie Cook Simpson, of Spanish Fort, Alabama; brother, Edwin Lee Balentine, of Decatur, Alabama; 4 grandchildren, Charles Edwin Simpson, of Auburn, Georgia; Matthew David Simpson and Anna Kate Simpson of Spanish Fort, Alabama; and Alexander Mason Pritchett of Lawrenceville, Georgia. She is also survived by three cousins, Alfred A. Bingham and wife, Becky, of Johns Creek, Georgia; Anna Kate Bingham Tidwell and husband, David of Decatur, Alabama; and Emily King Rogers and husband, Tom of Killin, Alabama. She attended Buford Church of Christ. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Elmwood Cemetery, 600 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Birmingham, Alabama 35211. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 10, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Flanigan Funeral Home, 4400 South Lee St., Buford, GA 30518.
