Lynn Ellan Sigman

Our hearts are deeply saddened by the passing of our loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, cousin and friend, Lynn Ellan Sigman, age 86, of Buford, GA, who went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday December 31, 2023, after a storied and distinguished life. Lynn was preceded in death by her daughter Martha Kinney, and her parents Wilson and Ruby Payne. Lynn is survived by her sons, Biff Kinney (Tracy) of Buford GA; Scott Kinney (Ann) of Murfreesboro TN, granddaughters Robin Kinney; Melody Kinney both of Murfreesboro TN; a multitude of extended family and friends the world over. Lynn Sigman was born on February 17, 1937, in Toledo, Ohio. Lynn attended DeVilbiss High School in Toledo, where she graduated in 1955. From there Lynn attended Ohio State University to study dental hygiene. In 1988, after a career spanning 28 years as dental hygienist, Lynn returned to school to earn an educational psychology degree from Lord’s College in Toledo. She then continued her education earning a master's degree from Bowling State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. In 1990 Lynn began a new career with the Toledo Public schools as a school counselor. Lynn requested and was assigned a position at inner city school locations to serve the under privileged. She loved this new role and pursued it with great passion. This is the type of work for which Lynn was destined. Her empathetic personality and compassion for people in need helped her become the type of educator who changed lives. Lynn loved to travel. She toured many countries in Europe, South America, and Africa. She never met a stranger and was filled with an ambition to learn everything she could from the cultures she encountered. Lynn was strong in her Christian faith. She assisted many others in finding faith as well. Lynn will be missed by all who knew her and will be remembered for her unfailing kindness and joyful optimism. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the caregivers and staff of Charter Senior Living of Buford and Quantum House of Buford for their special brand of love, care and compassion. A celebration of life to include friends and family will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 8, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Flanigan Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society in memory of Lynn Sigman.
