Rebecca Lynn Day

July 1, 1963 – June 5, 2025 With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rebecca Lynn Day, who departed this life on June 5, 2025, at the age of 61. Born on July 1, 1963, and raised in Buford, Georgia, Lynn lived a life filled with love, purpose, and grace. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, teacher, and friend—someone whose warmth, intelligence, and passion left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Lynn graduated from North Gwinnett High School in 1981. She pursued higher education with dedication, earning her bachelor’s degree from Brenau University, a master’s degree in education from the University of North Georgia, and a specialist degree in education from Lincoln Memorial University. Her academic achievements reflected her commitment to excellence and lifelong learning. For many years, Lynn dedicated herself to educating young minds as a teacher in Gwinnett and Hall County schools. Known for her intelligence and perseverance, she always finished anything she started, seeing challenges through to the end with determination and grace. Outside the classroom, Lynn was a gifted cook who delighted family and friends with her culinary talents. She enjoyed playing tennis, traveling the world, savoring a good glass of wine, and listening to her favorite country music. A woman of deep faith, Lynn was a proud believer in God, drawing strength and comfort from her spirituality throughout her life. She is survived by her loving husband, Tracey Day; her daughters, Rachel Day and Rebecca Day; Rebecca Day’s fiancé, Scott Farris; and her cherished granddaughter, Josephine Rae Edmonds. She is also survived by her brothers, Eugene Sells and Rex (Elizabeth) Sells; her sister, Donna (Bernie) Zimmer; her nieces, Tabetha (Jason) Payne, Misty (Pat) Sweeney, Christy Sells and April (JJ) Johnson; and her nephews, Jaylan (Mandy) Sells and Jonathan Sells. Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Georgia Sells; and her sister-in-law, Wanda Sells. A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on Friday, June 27, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Cavender Creek Vineyards, located at 3610 Cavender Creek Rd., Dahlonega, GA 30533. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and share in remembering Lynn’s beautiful life. Rebecca Lynn Day lived with heart, humility, and an open soul. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
