Richard Don Breedlove

Born August 19, 1938 Died September 6, 2018, age 80 Richard Don Breedlove, long time resident of Buford, GA passed away September 6th after an eighteen day hospital ICU and Hospice stay at Northeast Georgia Health System.. at the age of 80. Don served his country proudly in the US Navy, retiring after 20 years as a Chief Petty Officer. He was predeceased by parents Richard and Dorothy Breedlove, sister Dorothy Elaine Lange, and by an infant son, Glenn Breedlove. Left to cherish his memory is wife Lynn of Buford GA, Daughters Donna Marie Alton (Steve), Alecia Lynn Brickhouse both of Cherryville, NC. Daughter Dena Elizabeth of Georgia, son Robert Sheldon in Florida. Also surviving Don in his immediate family is sister Pat (Trisha) Shaffer (Bo), brother Steve Breedlove (Suzanne), niece Krista and her daughter, Morgan Grace, Carolyn, Richard and Michael Breedlove. After numerous years of separation, Don was thrilled to reunite with his first two children Donna and Alecia! They have spent the past eight years enjoying that reunion which also provided Don a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren! They are: Kalani (Scott), and son Nathan, Michael Bauer, Caden, Miles and Luke Bauer, Casey Stout, Justin Lemons and Hayden Stout, Stephen Alton, Mackenzie and Kaili Alton, Cody Alton, James, Everleigh, Emorie, Erilyn and Ellison Alton. Don was also blessed to be loved by his first two wives, who survive him; Vivien in North Carolina and Liz in Florida. Also long time friends Kathy Prater and her daughter Laura Jane Schaefer who stayed by his side non-stop during this sickness and ultimate journey into Heaven. At Don's request, there will be no formal service at this time and a memorial gathering will take place at a later date. Don (Butch) requested his brother Steve to obtain his cremains with instructions on where they are to be distributed. Steve told his brother it would be a lot easier to rent a plane and distribute them in one big swoop! That got a laugh from Don, who knows his "baby brother" will of course, abide by his wishes. Much appreciation goes out to all of the ICU and Hospice staff at Northeast Georgia Health System as they clearly love their jobs in the care, respect, and love they showed Don during his last days on this Earth. In lieu of flowers, Don would have loved to see that his best friend Kathy Prater's Food Ministry at Flowery Branch United Methodist Church be supported!
