Bernice "Bea" Nix Broom

January 24, 1927 - April 28, 2022

Bernice Nix “Bea” Broom, 95, 4355 So. Lee Street, Buford, Ga 30518, peacefully passed to her eternal life on April 28, 2022, at N’Side Gwinnet Hospital, Lawrenceville, Ga. Born January 24, 1927, in Calhoun, Ga, she was the daughter of John D. Nix and Clara Chastain Nix. She graduated from Cassville High School, 1947. She was married to Harris C. Broom on July 19, 1947, until his passing January 24, 2009. During their marriage they lived in San Francisco, Japan, Jacksonville, FL., and Georgia while Harris served 20 years with the U.S. Navy. Besides being a full-time homemaker and mother, she was employed 12 years with J.C. Penney as a decorator for their drapery department. She and her husband were members of the Avondale church of Christ for several years and then after retirement moved to Buford, GA. and were active members with the Buford church of Christ. Survived by a nephew, Bobby Nolan (Jean), Cartersville, Ga., Niece, Patricia Bell, Cartersville, Ga., cousins Jack Reeves (Annette), Cartersville, Ga and Sabina Latham, Anniston, AL. Also, many great- nieces and great-nephews and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harris C. Broom, Sr., sons Harris C. Broome, Jr., Donald Aaron Broome, and daughter JoAnn Broome Love. In lieu of flowers a gift may be sent to Camp Inagehi Church Camp, P.O.
