Carlton C. Chalmers

Mr. Carlton C. Chalmers, age 87, of Buford, GA passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Flora "Tootie" Chalmers; parents, Mac and Floride Chalmers; and brother, John Frank Chalmers. He is survived by: sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Elaine Chalmers, Buford, GA and William David and Sharon Chalmers, Suwanee, GA; grandchildren, Cameron Chalmers and Greg Chalmers; brother and sister-in-law, Charles Ray and Malinda Chalmers, Laurens, SC; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Chalmers was born August 22, 1924 in Ware Shoals, SC. He was a 1942 graduate of Ware Shoals High School in Ware Shoals, SC and had an Associate's Degree. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railway after forty-four years of service. He was a member of The Episcopal Church of St. Mary and St. Martha of Bethany in Buford, GA. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at The Episcopal Church of St. Mary and St. Martha of Bethany, 3805 Braselton Hwy., Buford, GA 30519 with The Very Reverend Tim Watts officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Autism Speaks or to the American Cancer Society in memory of Carlton Chalmers.
