Joan Pugh Nelms

Joan Pugh Nelms, age 75, of Lawrenceville, GA passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2021. She was preceded in death by parents, Roy and Nona Pugh; brothers, Charles Pugh and Winfred Pugh; and sister-in-law, Hazel Bagwell. Mrs. Nelms is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, George P. Nelms of Lawrenceville; children, Angelina Clark of Lawrenceville, and Gregory and Sarah Nelms of Auburn, GA; grandchildren, Story Clark and William Clark; sister, Martha Sue Maloney (Don) of Lilburn, GA; brothers, Harold Bagwell (Betty) of Buford, GA, and Ed Bagwell of Alpharetta, GA; sisters-in-law, Zelma Lord Johnson of Lawrenceville, GA and Sadie Lord Bentley and husband, Thomas; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mrs. Nelms was born on April 10, 1946 in Buford, GA. She was a 1964 graduate of Buford High School, and she was retired from General Electric with over twenty years of service. Mrs. Nelms was a longtime member of Island Ford Baptist Church in Buford. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Island Ford Baptist Church with Rev. Carroll Pruitt and Rev. David Pruitt officiating. She will lie-in-state at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Family and friends are requested to meet at the church by 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Interment will follow at Island Ford Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 3.
