John "Ioan" Achim Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

John Achim a.k.a Ioan Achim, was born on May 5th 1933, in Girisu-Negru, a locality on the northwestern part of Romania. Among the six children born in the family of Simion and Floare Achim, he was the youngest child preceded by his siblings - a brother, Simion and four sisters - Maria, Florita, Ana and Iosana. Since an early age, he grew up farming the land his family owned. Shortly after the end of WW2, after the communist takeover of the country, all private land was confiscated by the new regime. In order to survive, he was compelled to acquire a new skill in the construction industry, where he worked for most of the time he lived in Romania. He married Marioara Mateas in October of 1957. The Lord blessed their marriage with a son, Nelu and three daughters Lenuta, Mary and Claudia. Since early youth, he became a Christian. In his passion for the Lord, he dedicated himself to Sunday school teaching, preaching, band and choir ministry. Some of his hobbies were hunting, fishing, vegetable and flower gardening. At the age of 51, along with the rest of his family, he immigrated to the U.S.A in order to reunite with his son and his older daughter’s family. On Friday morning, May 13th, 2022, at the age of 89, the Lord called him to his heavenly home. He is survived by his spouse, son, three daughters, a granddaughter, nine grandsons and four great grandkids. The funeral service in his honor is scheduled for 3:30 PM, Saturday, May 21st, 2022, at the Flanigan Funeral Home in Buford, GA.
