Joseph "Joe" Howard Brooks Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Joseph Howard Brooks was born on August 13th 1963 to Robert and Jeanette Brooks. He was the first born for the family in Chilicothe, OH. He grew up in Ohio and became a big brother to his sister Lori. Joe was always a force of strength in his family who loved and accepted Jesus at a very young age. By the time he turned 18 he knew he wanted to take that strength and join the Marine Corps (Semper Fidelis) to defend and honor his country, “Semper Fi, Always Faithful”. His strength was recognized in the service, and he received many medals and accolades. After all his experiences he decided to devote his life to God, Jesus, his family and sobriety. Joe became a father to Ashley Nadine Brooks on December 21st 1988, shortly after his son, Joseph “Joey” Howard Brooks II was born on February 25rd 1991 and his life thereafter was dedicated to his children. On August 11, 1996, Joe was married to Lucia and then began their love story. Throughout their marriage Joe and Dia spent every day together, very rarely ever spending any time apart. They built a tremendous life together, full of love and laughter, always taking care of everyone and were partners in everything, real life soulmates. Joe was a leader, he was the head of the household, and after 10 years of working at CibaVision, Joe encouraged Lucia to go into Real-Estate where they blossomed their business and became one of the top-rated real-estate teams for Better Homes & Gardens. He was relentless, always leading his family to further their success. He was always striving for more and to uplift and provide for the family. He was always full of ideas and wisdom and ways to lead a better, stronger, more Godly and fruitful life. Their home was always filled with love and laughter. The Brooks’ family home was where we always gathered, surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family. He loved being surrounded by his family so much so that he even decided to have his mother-in-law and father move into the family home. He spent his life providing plenty of happy memories for the family taking multiple annual vacations, dinners, various get togethers, all to form memories and so we could all grow up together. Joe was unyielding in gathering those he loved to be near him. He initiated a search to reunite all his fellow Marines and the Army National Reserve, Desert Storm brothers and got everyone back together again for multiple reunions over the years. To him, being surrounded by those he loved and cared for was his biggest pride. Although many times he was the silent one, he was always the strength. In any situation Joe was the one who offered prayer and words of wisdom to overcome whatever feeling of defeat anyone ever felt. He was a true warrior, warrior of faith, love and strength. In December 2021, Joe fell ill to the Coronavirus and with his illness he came to a deeper awakening and desire to reach out to people to spread the word of Christ and His redeeming love to prepare for Jesus’ return. Joe leaves behind his father Robert, soulmate Lucia, his children Ashley, Todd, Joey , Jessie and grandchildren TJ, Wesley, and Emma. The family will never know anyone more devoted than him and we know that when someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. We have the assurance that we will see him again and rejoice together; until then may he rest in peace. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 11, 2022 in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home, Buford, GA with Pastor Robby Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Danielsville Memorial Gardens (395 Sunset Dr., Danielsville, GA 30633). The Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2022 at the Funeral Home
