Renato Barac
May 8, 1963 - March 18, 2021
On May 8th, 1963 in Zenica, Bosnia, Renato Barac was born. He was deeply loved by his mother, Jelena, and father, Franc. Growing up, he was known as a social, funny, kind, and loving person. In Bosnia, he worked as an electrician for several years to provide for his family and loved ones. You could always see him in Zenica around his dearest friends, having the time of his life. There he met the love of his life, Zilka. Together, they would raise three children: Vinko, Dragan, and Ivana. Soon the war in Yugoslavia would result in Renato making the bravest decision he could; to move his family to America to seek the “American Dream.” If you knew him, you would know that he whole-heartedly accomplished that dream throughout his time. From Bosnia to Clarkston, Georgia, every day he worked to provide for his family. It did not matter if he could not speak the language, did not know anyone, or whatever obstacle would come his way; he made it happen. He was truly the type of person to light up any room with his smile, jokes, and stories he had throughout his life. He worked hard to get his family into a good home; where he hoped we could all prosper and grow into our best selves. Renato was blessed enough to meet and love his three grandchildren: Natalie, Sophie, and Annabelle. When he was with them, he was the proudest and happiest grandfather possible. All he sincerely wanted was for his wife, children, and grandchildren to live a good life. We can assure you that he accomplished that goal. A good or bad day spent with him is now a day we will forever miss and cherish. He would always say, “You’re going to miss me when I’m gone!” With this, we would laugh and shrug it off thinking that the day he would be gone would be decades away. Yet as of March 18th, 2021, the day has come, and he was absolutely correct. We miss him more than we ever thought was imaginable. When you think of Renato, think of his smile, the way he made you laugh, and the legacy he left behind. As heartbreaking as his sudden loss is, it is important that we remember the good times we had with the most amazing husband, father, grandpa, friend, and loved one. May he rest in peace knowing that he will forever be loved, remembered, and cherished in our hearts. Graveside service will be held on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford, GA. Please assemble at the funeral home by 3:15 p.m. for the funeral procession.
