Ronald “Ron” Merkner, age 82, of Hoschton, GA passed away on Monday, September 28, 2020. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Merkner and daughter, Lynda Merkner. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Debra and Dave Miller, Buford, GA; granddaughter, Katie Miller, Buford, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and John O’Neill, San Marcus, CA; brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Charles and Susan Merkner, McHenry, IL; and several nieces and a nephew. Mr. Merkner was born on May 31, 1938 in Chicago, IL. He was a graduate from the University of Southern California in 1967 where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. He worked in the aerospace industry prior to having a successful career working for Carnation/Nestle USA retiring after 26 years as a Chief Engineer. He was a member of Christ the Lord Lutheran Church in Lawrenceville, GA. He proudly served his country from 1961 to 1964 in the United States Air Force. His passions were his love for his family, traveling, and USC Football. Fight On!! A Private Graveside Service will be held on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Park South, Flowery Branch, GA with Pastor Bob Mitchell officiating. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Ron’s memory to The Christ The Lord Lutheran Church, Lawrenceville, GA 30043
