Yvonne C Woodard Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Yvonne Cash Woodard, beloved daughter of Alvin Cash and the late Theodara Cash Sims made her grand entrance into this world on Thursday July 4th 1957 at Fort McPherson Army Base in Atlanta, Georgia. Yvonne’s beautiful soul was laid to rest on Thursday January 6, 2022 in Decatur, Georgia. Yvonne gave her life to Christ at the tender age of 12. Her faith in God remained constant throughout her life. Being a “military brat,” Yvonne was well traveled from a young age living in London, England, Brooklyn, New York, and Reno, Nevada but her home was in Decatur, Georgia. Through her experiences with travelling, she literally became a human road map and she was the type of individual that if she did not know something she would surely find out. Yvonne attended varying school systems from Brooklyn, New York to Atlanta, Georgia. She Graduated in 1976 from Booker T. Washington High School. She also attended Atlanta Metropolitan State College, Boggs Academy, Jackie Robinson IS320, and studied Pre-med at Atlanta Junior College from 1977-1978. Yvonne was highly intelligent with an almost photographic memory of how she explained things down to the smallest detail. Yvonne was a retired daycare worker from the School Kids Club where she served as a Teacher, Cook, Bus Driver, Administrator and Caretaker. Needless to say she was a jack of all trades and mastered all of them especially cooking. Yvonne, with her gift for cooking took her talents to the next level when she joined good friend Jesse Bates. Yvonne and Jesse created their own catering company which served the greater Atlanta areas. Yvonne was extremely creative and loved doing arts & crafts which included crocheting, knitting, sewing and decorating for holiday events and birthdays. When Yvonne took on the role of President for the PTSA of Wadsworth Elementary school, she created many educational and fun events for the school and family. It was her love and concern for her own children that led her to assume the arduous task of PTSA President as she focused on things that truly mattered to a concerned parent. On July 4th 1981 Yvonne married her best friend the late Wilber Woodard. Yvonne’s oldest daughter, Gabby, called them Frick and Frack because of their unique friendship and love for one another. Everyone knew that their favorite past time together was fishing. Yvonne also enjoyed family get-togethers and loved to cook good old soul food dinners for her family and friends. Yvonne’s loving spirit along with her cooking skills were a match made in heaven to say the least. And although Yvonne may be gone physically her spirit will live on eternally through the loved ones she left behind. In addition to her late husband, Yvonne was preceded in death by her Mother Theodora Sims, sister Constance Jean Jennings, niece Suntricia Jennings and brother-n-law Toriano Baker. Yvonne’s precious memories will be forever cherished by the following family members Children: Quentin Maurice Woodard, Dorian Michael Woodard (Tawanna), Gabrielle Dionne Woodard, Brian Darnell Woodard, Tiffani Dawn Smith (LaFabyian). Father: Alvin Cash (Wilhemena). Eleven Grandchildren: Tierra Cofield, DeAngelo Snow, Quendarious Woodard, TJ Marlow, Antonio Marlow, Shantia Woodard, Akayla Woodard, J’aniya Fitts, Angel Hammonds, Mariyah Woodard and Marcie Woodard. One Great Grandchild: Eli Will Hamilton. Brother: Kenneth Cash (Cassandra). Two Sisters: Adrienne Couther (Calvin), and Kimberly Baker. Yvonne created an indelible impression upon all who remain including a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. We shall always remember her infectious smile and laugh. We love you, Yvonne Cash Woodard and God bless you. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Hill officiating. The family will receive friends from 12;00 noon until time for the service at 1:00 p.m.
