Andrew "Andy" Ferencik, age 96, of Suwanee, GA passed away on Monday, October 5, 2015. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-eight years, Lois Ruth Ferencik. He is survived by his children, Karen Scott, Rancho Cordova, CA, Linda Ferencik and Michael Bremer, Grass Valley, CA and Laura and Gary Bekebrede, Suwanee, GA; three grandchildren, Shauna and Sam Mandell, Jarod and Justine Bekebrede and Aaron Bekebrede; five great grandchildren, Caleb Bekebrede, Gavin Bekebrede, Kollin Bekebrede, Zachary Mandell and Kiley Bekebrede; brothers, Luther Ferencik, Cleveland, OH and Melvin Ferencik, Brook Park, OH; sisters and brother-in-law, Eleanor Klug, Cleveland, OH, Evelyn Lutterick, Carson City, NV and Betty and Cliff Pruess, West Lake, OH; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Ferencik was born December 16, 1918 in Caldwell, OH. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard in World War II. He was a member of the V.F.W. in North Ridgeville, OH and a member of Buford American Legion Post 127. He was retired from Cleveland, Ohio, Transit Company as a driver after twenty-seven years of service. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Alpharetta, GA. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Zahn officiating. Interment will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Duluth, GA, with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church Building Fund, 4765 Kimball Bridge Road, Alpharetta, GA 30005 in memory of Andrew Ferencik. What do you say about a man who has lived 97 years in this world and has experienced what he has experienced in this lifetime? It seems like an almost impossible task to do in a few paragraphs, but we will try. In a nutshell, our father was an intelligent, sensitive, sometimes reticent, humorous, wise, very loving man. He was a 6-year WWII veteran. He was a hard-working, loving husband and father who worked sometimes two jobs to provide financially for his family. He also provided a firm foundation of love, discipline, hard work, religion and ethical living. He lived by the golden rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. We all benefited from his example. After mom died, he lived with Laura, his youngest daughter, in Georgia, and her family, and continued to supply never-ending love, wisdom, support and guidance to everyone around him. He was very sharp minded, engaged and supportive until the end. Dad passed 6 days after his stroke. Per his wishes, no extra ordinary measures were taken. He made this decision because he was ready to go home and had lived a full and complete life. He looked forward to joining Lois his wife of 57 years. With very heavy hearts we had to respect and support his decision. His children and grandchildren were with him 24/7 during his last and final journey on Earth. We feel that he is now dancing with mom, and celebrating with all of his beloved family and friends in heaven, and that he is surrounded by the very bright and golden light that is created ... when pure love and extreme joy abound.
