Barbara E. West Pezzanite

How does one write an obituary about the person who gave birth to us? I should start with the basic information such as her name, besides mom, was Barbara Etta (West) Pezzanite born on 06/06/1932 in Hillsboro, West Virginia but raised in Hollywood, West Virginia. Her parents were Lena Withrow and Solomon West. She had two sisters, Minnie and Lettie and two brothers, Cecil and Forrest. Unfortunately, mom went home on August 28th, 2020 at 6:57 pm . She was raised during the depression era and her father was a farmer and cook at the old saw mill. She attended Monroe High School located in Union, West Virginia. She had an interest in fashion at a young age. She used to pick blueberries to sell to make extra money to purchase clothes or material to make her own clothes when she was younger. She met my dad, Larry Vincent Pezzanite of Alderson W. Va. at the Methodist Church during high school. They would marry in May 1952. It would not be long before they moved to Manassas Virginia for my dad to go to college. While living in either Virginia or Ohio, mom has several really cool experiences. She worked at a laundry mat where she met Albert Einstein. He would bring in his clothes to be cleaned. Later, she went on to work as a telephone operator at the company where the first transcontinental phone call was placed. It was during this time, that mom and dad started their family. My mom has four other children besides me, Larry Joe (named after my father), Larry Vincent (named after my grandfather), Nicole Gray, John Robert and me, Linda. She has three grandchildren: Joseph Raymond Pezzanite, Lindsay Jo Costanza and Pamela Marie Goheen. In addition, she has 10 great grandchildren: Colin, Jaylin and Piper Guzenski as well as Samuel, Benjamin, Isabelle and Alethea Constanza plus Kalia, Jazlyn, and Wyatt Goheen. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren very much. She always had a sense of adventure. She lived in New York, Tennessee, Georgia, Ohio, North Carolina, as well as West Virginia and Alaska. She loved history and art. She loved to paint, play on her computer and visit museums. She wanted to travel the United States and paint after she retired. She found beauty in nature wherever she went. She believed everyone should see America. She was very caring and compassionate. Many friends and family members remember her for her sense of humor and smile. She volunteered with Hospice while in North Carolina. She started a poker group and painting group at the club house of the Adult Active Community where she lived. She even taught computer and art classes there. She loved watching birds, our dogs and the clouds. She loved the Georgia skies would say there was nothing like them anywhere. She will be missed. Unfortunately, with Coronavirus limiting travel, there will be no funeral but there will be a memorial service for her on Sunday, September 6th, 2020 at 2:00 pm EST on Zoom.
