Gail Robin Clark

Gail Robin Clark, beloved wife, sister, aunt, teacher, and friend, passed away on April 12, 2026, at the age of 65 in Suwanee, Georgia. Gail was born on July 1, 1960, in Philadelphia, PA, to Joyce Sokolove and Norman Sokolove. She grew up surrounded by family and carried that love with her throughout her life. In a fun bit of family history, her younger brother David was born on June 1, 1961—making them the same age for one special month each year, a detail that always brought smiles to the family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Dennis Clark; her brothers, David Sokolove (Linda Sokolove), Jonathan Sokolove (Melody Sokolove), Edward Sokolove (Lisa Sokolove), and Stephen Sokolove; sisters-in-law, Gayle Pugh (Keith Pugh) and Joan Bagley (Gary Bagley); and many loving nieces and nephews who brought her great joy. Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Joyce Sokolove and Norman Sokolove. Gail was a devoted Christian and an elementary school teacher who dedicated her career to teaching in Christian schools. She earned her Master’s degree in Education and touched countless young lives throughout her 42-year career. In recognition of her impact, she was honored as a national top 10 finalist in a “Heroes of the Classroom” competition. She was also a national and international speaker at Christian conferences, sharing her passion for teaching and her love for Jesus with audiences far beyond her own classroom. Though she did not have children of her own, she lovingly considered every child she taught to be one of her own. Her classroom was a place of kindness, encouragement, and faith, where students felt seen, valued, and inspired. She will be remembered for her joyful spirit, her deep love for Jesus, and the love she shared so freely with those around her. She had a special way of making people feel welcome and cared for, and her warmth touched everyone she met. Her beloved goldendoodle, Obadiah (“Obie”), was always by her side, a loyal and gentle companion whose presence reflected the love and joy she brought into everyday life. Gail shared a special and lighthearted bond with her husband, Dennis, centered around their love of bananas—a symbol of their joy and playfulness together. Dennis once prayed, “God, I need someone bananas over You, bananas over me, and that I would be bananas over her,” a prayer that beautifully reflected the love they would go on to share. He later proposed to Gail on the beach using bananas to spell out “Will you marry me,” a memory that perfectly captured their unique love story. Gail responded by rearranging the bananas to say, “Yes, I love you,” completing a moment that perfectly reflected their shared joy and devotion. Gail truly was “bananas” for Jesus Christ, her husband, her family, her friends, and teaching (42 years), living her life with passion, humor, and devotion. Her life reflected the promise found in one of her favorite Bible verses, Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” A Bananas Over Gail Service to honor her life will be held on May 16, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Eastgate Church, 2820 Brookwood Rd, Cumming, GA 30041; after the service, a light lunch will be provided. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in Gail’s memory as they come together in faith for the Bananas Over Gail Service. Gifts will assist with arrangements and meaningful ways to honor and remember her.
