Georgia Ann Raymond, 82, of Gillsville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2026. Born at St. Andrew’s Hospital in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, Georgia was raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, before spending most of her adult life in the Atlanta area, particularly Gwinnett County, where she built a life centered on faith, family, friendship, and kindness. Georgia was widely known as one of the kindest people anyone could ever meet. She greeted everyone with genuine warmth, friendliness, and respect, making each person feel welcome and valued. She never judged others and had a sincere interest in the people she met. She was the type of person who would give you the shirt off her back to help someone in need. Her kindness wasn’t reserved for special occasions—it was simply the way she lived. Family members, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and even casual acquaintances will remember the warmth, compassion, and generosity she extended to everyone she encountered. Georgia was a determined and resilient woman who believed there was little she couldn’t accomplish. She embraced life wholeheartedly and enjoyed fishing, spending time outdoors, and appreciating the beauty of nature. She had a creative spirit and later in life discovered a love for painting, becoming a talented artist whose work reflected the beauty she saw around her. She also had a fun, competitive side. Whether it was archery, golf, or bowling, Georgia was always ready for a challenge and could more than hold her own. She had a remarkable gift for bringing people together, often preparing delicious meals in what seemed like only minutes. She loved to laugh, loved the Lord, and found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Her greatest happiness came from caring for the people she loved and making their lives brighter. Above all, Georgia was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. God blessed her with two remarkable children, whom she loved beyond measure, and becoming a grandmother brought her immense pride and joy. She loved deeply, gave generously, and made those around her feel safe, accepted, and cherished. Her love was unconditional, and her presence made the world a gentler place. Georgia is survived by her daughter, Angela Lynn Lomax of Gillsville, Georgia; her son, Robert Raymond of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; her grandson, Lars Raymond of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; her siblings, Beverly Wagner and her husband, Lee; Carole Deegan of Jacksonville, Florida; Lars Petersen and his wife, Deb, of Jacksonville, Florida; and Phillip Petersen and his wife, Ellen, of the Jacksonville area. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing her. Georgia leaves behind a simple but powerful legacy: treat every person with kindness, dignity, and respect. Her family hopes she will be remembered not only with sorrow, but by following the example she set—speaking kindly, welcoming everyone, loving generously, and never measuring a person’s worth by appearance or circumstance. That was how Georgia lived, and it is the enduring legacy she leaves behind. Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, her love, compassion, laughter, unwavering faith, and gentle spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
