Mary Virginia Bosley Freeman

Mary Virginia Bosley Freeman August 7, 1936 - November 18, 2023 Mary Virginia Bosley Freeman was born in Florence, Alabama on August 7, 1936 the first child of Tom and Virginia Bosley. Mary attended Coffee High School where she served on numerous committees. She was noted to be a senior class favorite and on the coronation court. She was a charter member of the Stardust social club as well and was a DJ who had her own radio show called the Varsity Drag. Mary received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama and her Master's Degree in Elementary Education from the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. She was an elementary school teacher in a variety of states for over 20 years. Mary and Jim Freeman fell in love and were married in Florence in 1956. They enjoyed traveling, visiting all 50 states, all continents, and all oceans. They moved to 10 different states throughout their 67 years of marriage and Mary created a beautiful home filled with love and hospitality in each state. As a master gardener, her yards were always landscaped show pieces. Mary devoted herself to God first and worked with Jim in several Churches of Christ throughout their married life. They were faithful members of the Buford Church of Christ since 1992 where Mary supported Jim as he served as one of the three original elders for several years. Mary served in many areas at the church including teaching the ladies bible class and writing the popular weekly ladies news sheet for years. Mary Freeman is survived by her two daughters: Debbie Bonadies (Greg) and Kathy Simmons (Jack), 5 grandchildren: Nathan Simmons, Heather Simmons Rojas (Luis), Lauren Bonadies Pittman (Trip), Kelly Bonadies Wright (Aron) and Matt Bonadies (Meghan) and eight great-grandchildren: Joey Simmons (his mother Roseann Villegas), Tristan Rojas, Leo Rojas, Penny Pittman, Hilton Pittman IV and Darcy Pittman, Chachi Wright and Rockefeller Wright. Mary is also survived by her brother Tom Bosley (Anne) and her sister Peggy (Jay) and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins who will miss her dearly. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Buford Church of Christ Fellowship Hall, Buford, GA, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. A private family burial will be held at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford, GA In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Inagehi, Douglasville, GA or for scholarships to the Buford Church of Christ Sonflower Preschool.
