Otis Daby Jones

Otis D Jones, 87 of Flowery Branch, GA passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026 in Braselton, GA, surrounded by his family. On September 8, 1938, Otis was born to Norton and Mary Jones in Reber, NY. He attended Willsboro Central Schools and the apprentice program as a machinist and tool dye maker at General Electric in Schenectady, NY. He worked as a machinist and tool dye maker at Pratt & Whitney, Harford, CT and retired after more than 30 years with IBM, East Fishkill and Poughkeepsie, NY. He was the beloved husband of Joan who he married on September 14, 1958 in Whallonsburg, NY. He received the greatest honor of being the best father and grandpa by his loving family. Otis was a devoted family man and enjoyed spending time with family. He also enjoyed woodworking and being a volunteer fireman, EMT and commissioner of the Lagrange Fire Department, LaGrangeville, NY. He loved his New York Yankees and hunting with his son and brother-in-law Russell. Those left to cherish memories of Otis is his beloved Spouse Joan, his children: Anthony Jones (Theresia) of Princeton, NC; Penny Ormiston (Michael) of Jefferson, NY and Teresa Hyatt (Chad) of Buford, GA, his Grandchildren: Krystin Carter (Edward), Trever Lowe (Glaciann), Dylon Jones (Katherine), Hunter Hyatt (Brooke), Justin Jones (Hannah), Hannah-Jo Hyatt, Heidi Hyatt (Brandon), Hudson Hyatt and his Great Grandchildren: Bryce, Jordyn, Layla, Kayden and Karson. He will also be missed by his Sisters: Arlene Mason and Ramona Anderson; Sister-in-laws: Eunice Jones, Joyce Bridge, Ethel Hathaway, Mary Ann Crowningshield, Betty Phillips, Brother-in-law: Billy Palmer and Ron Tyrell; and so many nieces and nephews. Otis is proceeded in death by his father and mother, Norton and Mary Jones; father-in-law and mother -in-law, Harry and Viola Palmer; brother, Earl Jones; brother-in-law’s, James Mason, Thurman Anderson, Orrin Palmer, Robert Bridge, Marshall Hathaway, David Palmer, Russell Crowningshield, James Palmer, Thomas Palmer and Jim Phillips; sisters-in-law: Edith Tyrrell, Thelma Palmer, and Nina Palmer. Dad was hard-working and dedicated. Our dad will be dearly missed by his family and friends. His family was his pride and joy and his greatest role in his life was as a husband, father and grandfather. Dad, we will miss you, immensely. You were our “go-to” when life got rough, you were our sanity in this crazy world, and our comfort when we needed clarity. You were always someone we could count on, and although you were a straight shooter, you always got your point across without judgement, and always provided us sound advice. You always made sure we made our decisions after thinking things through. Because of you, we have the hearts of a lion, the love of our family and an insane work ethic. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the 4th floor staff at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Braselton, GA for the care they showed to our dad. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 from 1 – 3pm with a funeral service at 3pm at Flanigan Funeral Home, 4400 South Lee Street, Buford, GA, 30518. Burial will be at the Willsboro Cemetery at a later date.
