Roberta (Betty) DiVito

Roberta (Betty) DiVito of Buford, GA, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on May 17, 1931, in New York City, Betty was the cherished daughter of Grace and Robert Blumenscheid. Throughout her life, Betty dedicated many years to her work as a secretary and travel agent, roles that allowed her vibrant personality to shine. In 1951, Betty married Joseph Anthony DiVito, and together they embarked on a new chapter in Connecticut, building a loving family. Their years in Norwalk were filled with treasured friendships and Betty’s unwavering devotion to raising their six children: Bobby, Tommy, Robin, Johnny, Gail, and Eddie. Known for her spirited nature and fierce independence, Betty filled their home with laughter and warmth and took pride in tending to hedges of red roses that became a signature of their front yard. Betty’s greatest fulfillment came from nurturing their family, creating a home defined by love and encouragement. As an only child, Betty guided each of her children to pursue their own unique journeys, fostering independence and self-discovery. In 1967, the family relocated to New Jersey, where Betty’s talent for entertaining continued to flourish. Her creative cooking and signature parties made gatherings memorable and brought family and neighbors together. Later, in 1986, Betty and Joe retired to Spring Hill, FL, where Betty dedicated time volunteering at the local Sheriff’s Department, further serving their community. After Joe’s passing in 1991, Betty moved to the Atlanta area to be closer to several of her grown children and grandchildren, continuing to be a source of love and support. Left to cherish her memory and celebrate her life are her six children, their surviving spouses Meg, Wendy, Sheryl and Bernadette, grandchildren Joey, Debbie, Robby, Bonnie, Missy, Catie, Erik, Kyle, Allison, Maggie, Rachel, Emma, Tyler, and Nick, twenty-four great grandchildren, cousins Kenny and Nancy, and many nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by some of her children’s spouses Susan, Brenda, and Doug, great granddaughter Amelia, cousins Buddy and Phyllis, and in-laws Toots, Bill, Rosanne, Ray, Adele, and Joe.
