William Hamilton Blackham

William Hamilton Blackham January 1, 1933 – September 19, 2022 William Hamilton (Bill) Blackham passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on September 19, 2022. Bill was the son of William Thomas and Florence Oakley Blackham, born on January 1, 1933 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Bill is survived by his beloved wife Jane (Will) Blackham. On November 16, 2022 Bill and Jane would have celebrated 65 years of marriage. Their love grew into a beautiful family of six children, fifteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Bill is survived by his children and their spouses; Bill and MaryAnn (McConville) Blackham, Mike Blackham and Whitney McGrath, Ann and Loren Hursh, Amy and Rick Alcala, Patty and Scott Rider, and Fred and Jenni (Wolf) Blackham. Bill made precious memories with his grandchildren, always teaching and showing them the light-hearted side of life. Recent years added more memories with great grandchildren whom he adored. Bill is survived by his sister Dolores Marefka of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and many special nieces and nephews with whom he shared many happy times. Bill devoted his entire life to his family. In his quiet and humble way, he provided non-judgmental and unconditional love along with emotional, physical, and spiritual guidance. He provided much career and financial advice over the years, and in 1990 was a founding member of CEMS Consultants, Inc. in Orlando, Florida. He is fondly remembered for his quick wit and humor and always telling his children and grandchildren to “keep up the good work”. Bill spent hours researching genealogy and enjoyed capturing family life on camera which will be enjoyed for years in home movies. Bill was a 1952 graduate of Southmont High School in Johnstown, Pennsylvania and a 1956 graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Sanitary Engineering. Bill had a very successful career as a professional engineer in multiple states. His knowledge was well utilized throughout the years including hours of design and labor on many home projects for his kids. Bill was an active member of the Methodist Church in Pennsylvania. In accordance with Bill’s wishes, a family service is planned for Homewood Cemetery in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at a later date.
