William "Bill" Crosby Luebben

William Crosby Luebben, a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend to many, passed away on Thursday February 13, 2025, at the age of 69. Although he is now in heaven with his mother, father and brother Cliff, he leaves behind another brother Eddie Luebben, his sister Becki Smorin, his 3 children, Stephanie Powell, William Luebben, and Savannah McGowan as well as his 6 grandchildren, Avery and Channing Powell, Liam and Joseph Luebben, Theo and Scottie McGowan. In addition to his family members, he leaves behind a countless number of friends who loved and cared for him deeply. William “Bill”, was born in Columbus Ohio on July 7, 1955 and was raised with his family in Worthington, OH. He graduated from Clay High School in 1973 and went on to study business at the University of Western Michigan. He spent most of his career in software sales holding high titles at many companies allowing him the opportunity to travel all over the world. He enjoyed seeing and experiencing other countries and learning about other cultures and traditions, both in his professional and personal life. He and his life-long friend, Don Conwell walked the Great Wall of China together in April of 2017. He was even in Riyadh Saudi Arabia on a business meeting in 2015 when his first grandchild was born, after specifically asking his daughter not to go into labor until he was back home. For a time, he stepped away from the corporate world to fulfill a lifelong dream of his to open a coffee shop. He opened The Northern Star Coffee House in 2003 in Norcross, GA which quickly became a beloved neighborhood staple, for the coffee but also for the charismatic and kind owner. Bill was a man of strong faith, raised by devoted Christian parents, he accepted the Lord as his Savior on July 13, 1964, at a Billy Graham crusade in Columbus Ohio alongside his sister Becki. He spent time as a youth pastor at a church in South Bend, he also enjoyed being a camp counselor mentoring young kids for many summers. William “Bill” was passionate about the outdoors and spent much of his life as a kid, young adult, and into adulthood and fatherhood outside, camping, hiking, and even climbing mountains. He made it to the Summit of Mountain Ranier in 1997 and the Grand Tetons in 1999. He also traveled to Mexico to climb mount Ixta. One of his best friends for most of his life was Ted Daniels, they shared the passion of the outdoors among other things, and for many years took all their kids and their friends on a very special annual camping trip near Amicalola Falls spending the days playing capture the flag and the evenings around the bonfire roasting biscuits on a stick. It was important to him to share his passions with his kids through those trips and on frequent hikes and trips to beautiful places. He was a dedicated and loving father who made a constant effort to introduce his kids to new experiences, attended every sporting event, and opened them up to new things while encouraging them all to follow their dreams no matter where that led them. William “Bill” moved to Suwanee Town Center in 2008 and found so much joy in living where he could walk to restaurants and park events, and be in the middle of a constant social and engaging environment allowing him to make and see friends as often as he wanted to, but also allowed him the opportunity to meet and speak with strangers and learn about everyone’s stories and different walks of life. He truly cared about others and found so much joy in learning about new people he met and helping those around him. He would often make calls to his children after a day in the park or walking home from dinner to simply say “Man, I really love where I live!”. A Celebration of Life event will be on Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Tequila Mama Taqueria Restaurant, 340 Town Center Ave., Suwanee, GA.
